Measles infection in Lothian

Measles cases have been confirmed in Lothian over the past month in teenagers and young adults.

Please do not send your child to school if they have any symptoms suggestive of measles infection.

Symptoms
The symptoms of measles include fever, lethargy, runny nose, conjunctivitis, cough and a red, blotchy rash which starts at the head spreading over the chest and limbs. The rash generally fades within ten days.

If your child has developed symptoms suggestive of measles, you should keep your child at home and contact your General Practitioner for further advice by phone (or NHS24 if out of hours on tel. 111).

This is very important in order to avoid the spread of measles to other people.

People with measles are infectious from around five days before the rash appears until four days after the rash appears and should self isolate at home during this time.

MMR
The best protection against measles is two doses of MMR.

Family Learning Festival

An information display about our Heartstart Scheme will be at the Port Seton Community Centre from 28th October – 2nd November 2013 as part of the Family Learning Festival.  You will have the opportunity to find out exactly what ‘Emergency Life Saving Skills’ (ELS) are and sign yourself up for a FREE first aid course.  On Friday afternoon and throughout the day on Saturday, Miss O’Neill and some P7 pupils will be giving CPR demonstrations.

P2/3 Boat Hunt

Primary 2/3 have been hunting for a boat in order to make it in to a colourful planter to go near our main entrance and as you may have noticed one has appeared there!

So, we just wanted to thank Ian and Dean who kindly donated their old rowing boats to P2/3 (we didn’t expect to be so lucky and get our hands on two boats so watch this space for news of the second!).

A big thank you also goes out to all our kind volunteers who offered to help move the boats to the school.  They were successfully moved at the weekend and are now waiting P2/3’s creative touch!

News Release: Consultation on new development plan

East Lothian Council is seeking the views of residents and others on future land-use and development in East Lothian as it prepares a new Local Development Plan.

The plan will eventually replace the East Lothian Local Plan 2008.

We want to know what aspirations you have for the way your area might develop over the next ten years or so, and what planning issues you think may need to be addressed in the new plan.
