Lots of our children are off at the moment and we had some requests to post the song we are busy practising for our picnic day…
You can all learn the song at home ready for our picnic! We hope to see you all back next week 🙂

A huge thank you to all of the parents, grandparents, family members and carers who came to watch the children enjoying their sports day. The children were fantastic and tried their very best in all of the races. The nursery team were very proud of their efforts.
For those of you who managed to get in and have a look around the nursery, we hope you enjoyed your visit.
Remember it is the nursery sports day today. Our afternoon of fun begins at 2pm in the school playing fields beside the staff car park. We expect the sports to last till approx 2.45pm, the children will then return to the nursery, where you will be able to collect them.
The children and the nursery team are excited to finally be able to share an event with parents and hope that as many of you as possible can make it.
Once all of the children have been collected we would like to invite any parents/carers of the children who will be leaving us to start primary one to come in and have a quick look around the nursery. Parents of children returning in August will be given the opportunity to come in after the summer holidays.
We had a great time celebrating ‘The Platinum Jubilee’ this afternoon.
We ate scones fit for the queen and had fun dancing in the sunshine!
Just a reminder that school and nursery will be closed on Friday 3 June 2022 for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
We hope you have a lovely long weekend.
Today we released our butterflies into the nursery garden. The children were given the opportunity to hold a butterfly if they wanted to. All of the children were respectful rhinos, staying very calm and gently holding the butterflies on their hands so they didn’t scare the butterflies. Afterwards we watched excitedly as the butterflies flew away.
Just a reminder that school and nursery are closed on Monday 23rd May as it’s an in-service day for staff.
The nursery have been busy planting all the seeds we received from your generous donations.
We took some pumpkin seeds to the gardeners around at ‘Cockenzie in Bloom’ and they stored them in the green house for us until they were ready to plant in our vegetable patch. Mrs Purves took two helpers to collect them and they had grown lots already!
We had some great helpers weeding our vegetable patch and getting it all ready to plant the seeds.
We will continue our planting over the next six weeks and the children will be watering them daily… helping us learn about where food comes from and what it needs to grow.
We can’t wait to make tasty snacks with our vegetables, well done you are all NURTURING NORA’S!
A massive well done to Karyn Pollard, our Senior Early Years Practitioner, who successfully achieved a BA degree in Childhood Practice. Congratulations Karyn! #successful #EduLothian #ELCCouncil pic.twitter.com/X76VyJGPOn

We currently have caterpillars in nursery and we are learning all about their life cycle. They are getting bigger everyday… we can’t wait to see them transform into butterflies!
