Days of the Week Song

We love to sing the days of the week song at gather time in nursery.

You can support your child with learning the days of the week by singing this song. You could also write out the days of the week to help with early letter/word recognition.

Once your child becomes familiar with the days of the week you could have fun working out which day it is today, which day it will be tomorrow and which day it was yesterday.

DAYS OF THE WEEK SONG (Adams Family Tune)

Day of the week (clap clap)

Days of the week (clap clap)

Days of the week, days of the week, days of the week (clap clap).

There’s Monday and there’s Tuesday, there’s Wednesday and there’s Thursday, there’s Friday and there’s Saturday and then there’s Sunday too. (Repeat top verse)

1140 Hours

I am pleased to inform you that Cockenzie Primary School Nursery will be reinstating 1140 hours from Tuesday 27th October, following the October break.  We are in a position to offer both full and part time places when we return to 1140 hours.

If you do not wish to take up the full allocation of hours or are hoping to do a blended model then you must contact the nursery placement department by email at NAMS@eastlothian.gov.uk by Friday 2nd October stating your;

  • child’s first initial and surname
  • name of nursery
  • details of what days you are accepting at the school nursery and the days your child will be attending another setting (if this is applicable)

If you are currently using a blended model between Cockenzie Primary School Nursery and another funded provider you will have to continue with that model for this term, until the end of December, as the partner provider has received the funding for the hours.  If you wish to then change this from January please contact NAMS@eastlothian.gov.uk.

If you wish to take up the full allocation of hours then you are not required to do anything.  Please ensure that you have emailed NAMS by Friday 2nd October if you are not taking the full hours allocated to your child.

Yours sincerely

Natasha O’Connor

Depute Headteacher

Return to Nursery

We are so excited to see all of our returning nursery children as well as welcoming our new children into Cockenzie Primary School Nursery.

Our returning children received a letter from us at the start of the summer regarding their days for August. Your children will have been allocated either Monday and Tuesday or Wednesday and Thursday with alternate Friday mornings.

However many of you will have noticed in the latest update emailed to you all that nursery now no longer returns until Monday 17th August. This was a blanket decision made for all nursery children across East Lothian council. Therefore your child’s first day will be either Monday 17th August or Wednesday 19th August with children coming on Monday and Tuesday returning for Friday 21st August in the morning.

All of our new children will receive a letter from us confirming their first day over the course of the next week. All of our new children will be staggered in their start dates as we always do to allow us to settle our returning children and to ensure the best possible transition into our nursery for your child.

Enjoy the end of your summer holidays and the entire team are excited to see everyone soon!
