5th February is UK Internet Safety Day.

I would encourage as many of our colleagues in Education, Early years and Foster carers to sign up to the CEOP website. There is lots of interactive tools to use with children and young people across all age groups.

Please see below an email from Sarah Finnegan Child Sexual Exploitation Advisor Barnardo’s RISE (Reducing the Impact of Sexual Exploitation)

“There has recently been an 8 day investigation by Channel 4 News into the TikTok app.  This app was previously Musical.ly, which had a lot of negative publicity around perpetrators using this app to target children.

Channel 4 News viewed 45 hours’ worth of live stream content from TikTok, and deemed nearly half of the streams viewed contained inappropriate content.

I think most young people we work with will be using this app, or at least have access via friends, so talking to them about appropriate content to stream, basic privacy settings and what to do should they receive or view inappropriate content is a worthwhile discussion. “                        23rd January.
