Rationale

The National Improvement Framework (2020) has Assessment of Children’s Progress as one of the six key improvement drivers.

More than ever, we need robust and consistent evidence at all stages of the Secondary School Curriculum in all subject areas, supporting effective progression. This will help us cope with the new challenges in the Senior Phase as well as the expectations in the BGE. One way to achieve this is to ensure that the moderation cycle is integral in providing robust moderation processes within school, across schools, across the local authority and across SEIC.

Following the cancellation of our Assessment and Moderation Event in May (due to lockdown), we have engaged with all LAs and have created an agreed and shared expectation around assessment and moderation. We would welcome all our Secondary Subject Leads to attend (from all 19 networks) to learn together. You can then share your learning with subject teams within your LA (if appropriate)
