What is this training?
Having No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) is one of the biggest barriers faced by migrant women and children when fleeing domestic abuse and honour based violence. This webinar will look at ways to access funding for women with NRPF.
Who is this learning for?
This course is for practitioners and professionals working in East Lothian or Midlothian, who are working directly or indirectly with those affected by domestic abuse.
Are there any pre-requisites for attending this course?
Applicants must have a firm grounding in Violence Against Women and Girls by either having completed ‘Improving our Practice on Violence against Women and Girls: Spotlight on Domestic Abuse’ or an equivalent VAWG face-to-face training, and also the Domestic Abuse Awareness Raising Tool
What are the learning outcomes?
Participants will have an understanding of:

- Who this affects?
- Immigration as a Tool of Abuse
- Culture, tradition, faith and migration
- What services can do to support individuals affected by NRPF
How will the training be delivered?
This training will take place on a virtual basis, using Microsoft Teams, over a half day. You should only sign up to this course if you can access the training via Microsoft Teams. The training will be delivered by Shakti Women’s Aid, Edinburgh.

Speak to your line manager about whether this course is suitable for your role and level of experience. Demand for this course will be high, therefore you are required to seek your manager’s approval, ensure that you are available on the day, and that you have protected time to attend before enrolling. You can then apply by completing the enrolment form attached.
