What are the aims of the Bite size training?
To support practitioners in:
- Developing their knowledge and understanding of the National Standard for ELC Providers
- Engaging with the East Lothian ELC Quality Assurance Guidance to identify development priorities
- Focussing on their role in leading change and supporting staff in taking this forward
- Developing a highly skilled and confident workforce within their setting and across East Lothian
Who is the training for?
Managers, Senior Early Years Practitioners, Leads and Practitioners working in Local Authority and Funded Provider settings
Each bite size will be 1 hour long via a Google Meet.

- Developing your knowledge and understanding the National Induction Resource
- Developing your induction process

Child Planning Meeting Process
- Provide an overview of the East Lothian Child’s Planning Framework
- Provide a reminder of National Practice Model
- Share the documentation linked to the Child’s Planning Framework
- Confirm an understanding of the different roles, including that of an SEYP/Lead Practitioner, within the process

- Using East Lothian Planning Guidance, CfE and East Lothian frameworks to underpin high quality learning
- Identify the importance of monitoring learning and provide practical ways to implement in the setting
- Share effective leading of learning that is inclusive of staff and child voice
- Supporting evaluation of planning in your setting
