With two years to go until the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games the Young Ambassador Programme is UK wide and delivered in Scotland by the Youth Sport Trust in partnership with sportscotland through the Active Schools Network.
Central to the Young Ambassador programme is the principle of young people driving opportunity, engagement and change for other young people. The role of a Young Ambassador involves increasing participation, promoting active and healthy lifestyles and spreading the work of the Olympic and Paralympic values. Young Ambassadors have a pivotal role within their school and wider community, they are – advocates, role models and leaders of other young people.
The adiStar ambassador is the first stage of the Young Ambassador initiative. Each high school throughout East Lothian has selected two representatives to take forward the initiative within their school. These Ambassadors will also have input in to the cluster primary schools so please ask your Active Schools Coordinator how the Young Ambassadors can support your school.
