Another busy week in P2/3. 🙂
We are exploring the Wonders of the World and have been learning about the Great Barrier Reef. We created our own underwater scenes during Art and then wrote post cards to home imagining we got to visit Australia.
In science, we have been looking at how we inherit characteristics from our parents. We used the idea of Mr Men and Little Miss having a ‘mini’ and created some amazing new characters that had inherited different characteristics.
P2/3 did a fantastic job singing ‘The Kirkcudbright Centipede’ today – well done! 🙂
We have been learning about money in maths this week. We have been figuring out how to give change and have enjoyed buying and selling items with our talk partners in the ‘Toy Shop’.
We have started to explore our new topic ‘The Wonders of East Lothian’ by looking at the 7 Natural and New Wonders of the World. As we progress in our topic we will start to explore all the wonderful places in East Lothian – both natural and man made.
Keep up the hard work P2/3! 🙂
P2/3 have had another fun week. They have especially enjoyed their play stations this week creating lots of different things!
In art, we were exploring placement and fine lines and created some fantastic drawings.
This week, we have been focussing on resilience in Health and Wellbeing. We looked at different cartoon characters from films and discussed the different strategies they were using to be resilient when things didn’t go as they might have planned. We then linked them to our 10 Resilience strategies.
We are looking forward to the Scots Assembly next week where we will sing a song as a class and some of us will recite some Scots poetry. Hope to see you there! 🙂
P2/3 have been working very hard on their learning as always!
In numeracy, we have been learning about multiplication and have been exploring all the different strategies we can use to help us figure it out. The children are now becoming familiar with their favourite strategy.
Our topic has been East Lothian folk tales and we have really enjoyed reading and discussing these stories about our local area. Yesterday we wrote a diary entry pretend we were Johnny from Johnny’s Football. We worked with our talk partners first to remember what happened to him and how we would write it down.
We have also been exploring Scots language, attempting to write our own poetry about animals in Scots.
In art, we have been working on our still life skills and also our ability to copy on a line of symmetry and use fine lines to create a Highland coo.
I hope you all have a lovely February break! 🙂
