P1/2 Blog

Jayden: ‘This week we have been learning about electricity and how to keep safe.  We know that we should not go near pylons or play near, or with, electricity boxes .’   Social Subject

Tomas: ‘This week the P6s helped us learn some tennis, some rugby and some football.  They set up some courses for us to do.  I  liked tennis the best.’   PE

Tam: ‘This week in Maths we got a new booklet and there were number ladders up to 1000 and I found it quite easy but some people didn’t.  We also learned about Grid References and shape patterns.’   Maths

Arne: ‘We have been learning about keeping safe around strangers.  I learned that if a stranger offers you sweeties (or something) you would say NO, then you would run away and tell an adult.’   Social Subjects

Oscar: ‘Last Friday we met the new P1s and our teacher.  We showed them how to stand smartly and get snacks and jackets.  They were learning our names too.’   Welcoming the new P1s

Fairyland Afternoon

I would like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all the Fairyland visitors who attended this afternoon.  It was a huge success and I know the children loved sharing their learning with you all.

The children looked wonderful dressed up (as did Mrs Wellwood!) and, I’m sure, did you all proud with their responsible attitudes.

Thank you, too, to the P6/7 girls and their super storytelling!

P1/2 Learning Log

John: ‘This week we made the 3 Little Pig’s Houses out of wood, straw and brick.  I found the wood quite easy but the straw was quite hard to work with because it was blowing away and was hard to stick to the glue but I persevered and got there in the end.  The brick was easy because we used sponge to dab the bricks .’   Art

Ava L: ‘This week it was sports day.  We did lots of games and activities.  Some of the high school pupils came to help us.  I enjoyed the potted sports the best  and the flat race was easy.’   PE (sports day)

Jayden: ‘In music this week we were learning how to keep the beat.  We used drums and other percussion instruments and the beat was kept by clapping.’   Music

Tomas: ‘In Maths we were learning grid references and we used the computers to play a game where a shark had to find different foods.  The space ship game was easy!’   ICT/Maths

Duncan: ‘We have all been learning about fractions.  We have been learning about halves and quarters.  We know that if you split something in half it has 2 equal bits and if it is split into quarters it is split into 4 equal bits.’   Maths

Tam: ‘The last 2 weeks we have been working with Gordon to learn a story about a character called ‘Thomas the Rhymer’.  We have been using actions and music and our hands to tell the story..’   Drama/Music

P1/2 Learning Log

Cameron:  ‘This week in maths we were learning about measure.  We were using the scales to weigh cubes and other objects .’  Maths

Ava M/Duncan:  ‘This week in maths we were weighing things around the classroom. We were learning about grams and kilograms.  1kg is the same as 1000g .’  Maths

Tomas: ‘In Read, Write, Inc we were practicing sounds and writing words.  We were using the teaching stick to test each other on our sounds .’   Literacy

Tam: ‘In French Mrs Swan came and taught us how to remember our colours.  We played a game called ‘where is George?’ and also learned our numbers.  This was to perform at the French Assembly today.’   French

Chloe: ‘In music, we were learning a song and learning to keep the beat using drums and a conductor stick.’   Music

Hamish: ‘We have been looking through our Learning Journeys and organised them into subjects using dividers.  It was good fun looking through some of the work we’ve done this year ’   Our Learning Journeys
