P3/4 Learning Log 10.5.19

P3/4 have been very busy this week.

We wrote very interesting leaflets all about exciting things to see and do within East Lothian.

We have started to learn about ‘Our Families’ in Mandarin.

We have been working on our numeracy skills and the relationship between multiplication and division.

The highlight of our week was the P7 tour of Dirleton Castle.   Thank you P7 we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Gillian Kyle is a Scottish artist who is well known for her  use of iconic Scottish brands such as ‘Tunnocks’ and ‘IRN-BRU’ .   After learning about her designs we were inspired to create our own pieces of art using wrappers from Tunnocks Teacakes.

We have been learning greetings in Mandarin.

Our topic for this term is mapping and the local area.  We used Ordnance Survey maps to find Dirleton and used the key to identify the symbols on the map.

P3/4 Learning Log 22.3.19

In Science we have continued to learn about the Earth, Sun and Moon.  We worked cooperatively with our talk partners to create informative posters.

When writing  imaginative stories we tried to include as many adjectives and adverbs to  describe the setting and characters.

In maths we have been focussing on identifying and continuing patterns as well as using function machines.

In the Thrilling Thursday Group P3/4  had the opportunity to play traditional board games designed and created by the older pupils.   The pupils played cooperatively with each other, followed the rules, took turns and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.  The pupils reviewed the games after they had played them and all games were highly recommended.
