Wannabe Wednesday

Today is Wannabe Wednesday at school. Pupils  have come to school dressed as the job they would like to do in the future. We made a wordle to show what different careers Primary 5b would like to do.

Burns Day Celebrations

Primary 5 celebrated the birthday of our National poet this week. Everyone worked extremely hard to learn their Burns poem and include gestures and lots of expression. All 150 of us had a ceilidh and shared the many dances we have been learning. Our favourite was the Canadian Barn Dance.

Please find attached the Primary 5 homework task for Burns Day.
As part of our literacy assessment this term pupils should select and learn one poem. Children should be able to recite the poem from memory using expression. We will hold a competition in class on January 25th.

Street Talk
There was a rammie in the street,
A stishie and stramash.
The crabbit wifie up the stair
Pit up her winda sash.
“Nou what’s adae?” the wifie cried,

Mince and Tatties

I dinna like hail tatties
Pit oan my plate o mince

Viking Homework

  • P5 Homework January/February
  • Weeks Ending 20th , 27th and 3rd
  • Please complete one task per week to be handed in on Friday

Task 1: Viking Game

Learning Intention: I can invent an indoor or outdoor game that Viking children could have played.

Success Criteria:

  • Make a plan of your game.
  • Investigate what materials would have been available to Viking children.
  • Make your game. Include rules so that we can play.

Task 2: Viking God

Learning Intention: I can create my own Viking God.

Success Criteria:

  • Design a new Viking God.
  • Decide how you want to show your creation – a model, lego, poster etc.
  • Include a short paragraph explaining the special power your God has.
  • Task 3: Viking Longhouse

Learning Intention: I can create a 3D model of a Viking Longhouse.

Success Criteria:

  • Research what might be found inside a Longhouse.
  • Include some the main features of a Longhouse in your model.
  • Think carefully about the colours and materials you use.

Task 4: Secret Rune Message

 

Learning Intention: I can use the runic alphabet to write a secret message to my friend.

Success Criteria:

  • Create your message using the Viking runic alphabet.
  • Use the sheet provided to help you.
  • Make sure you know what your secret message says.

Dear Parents / Carers,

As part of our Enterprise project, we will be holding a Christmas Fair on Thursday 8th December, from 6pm to 7pm in the Lochend dining room.

This will give you the opportunity to buy the Christmas-themed products that the P5 classes have been making. As we are an eco-friendly school, we ask that you bring your own bags to take home all your goodies. Please remember to bring lots of change.

We would appreciate it if parents could order tickets in advance. Please indicate on the form sent home today how many tickets you require for the Christmas fair and return along with the money. The tickets are priced at 50p. The P5 children will not require a ticket.

Once again, many thanks for your continued support.
