We launched Battlefields 2019 before the summer. The £100 deposit is now due and there is a Parent/carers’ Information Evening on Tuesday 28 August from 6-7pm in the assembly hall.
The Annual DGS Awards’ Evening is an important event in our school calendar. It offers us the opportunity to celebrate the talents, successes and achievements of our students.
This year, due to the ongoing expansion works, we are unable to host our Awards’ Evening in the Games Hall. However, we believe it is critically important that we continue to celebrate the high number of student achievements. Therefore, we will adopt a different approach to this event this year.
On Wednesday 12th September we will have an Awards’ Evening celebrating the achievements and efforts of students. This will be held in Dunbar Parish Church from 7pm – 9pm. Prize winners will be notified of full event details shortly.
In late September (date TBC next week) we will have a special event celebrating the Sporting Achievements of our students. More information on this exciting evening will follow shortly.
Communication with the School
The school operates a system whereby you will receive an email every Friday from the school with updated news about events, and links to relevant information on our website. We have found that a few minutes each week glancing at our website to be one of the most effective ways of communicating with parents/carers and students.
New S1s with no email on their primary school record will be issued with a hardcopy of this on the following Monday, to allow parents/carers time to contact the school with email addresses if they have one. If you continue to require a hardcopy of our weekly updates, due to not having internet, please inform the school office on 01368 863 339, and your son/daughter will be given one each Monday following the Friday update.
Contacting Staff at School
It is important that parents/carers can contact school staff. There are various means of doing this:
- By telephone on 01368 863 339
- By email – email@example.com. We would ask that parents and carers do not email subject teachers directly, instead please insert the member of staff you would like to contact in the subject line of the email.
East Lothian Instrumental Music Services
Parents/carers received information prior to the summer holidays regarding the changes to East Lothian’s Instrumental Service. Returning students (including our new S1s who received lessons in P7) should hand in their application forms to either the school office or their music instructor; alternatively the form can be completed online. Please ask your child to inform their music instructor if they no longer wish to continue their lessons. Information about auditions will be given out shortly to students who would like to receive lessons.
