Update 5th October 2018

UCAS 2018-2019  – Update for parents and carers

Any student who is applying to university this year should now have started on their UCAS application. They will be supported by a member of staff, either their Guidance teacher or another member of staff and they have all been informed who their mentor is.  Students are required to meet with them for support in writing their personal statement. The students should have provided their mentor with a first draft of their personal statement and be working on the second draft which is due the 12 October. The final draft is due 26 October. In most cases the mentor will also be writing the reference for the student and if not it will be the guidance teacher.

You can support your child in this application process by:

  • Reading their personal statement before they submit it to their mentor.
  • Encouraging them to continue completing all sections of their application
  • Go online to www.ucas.com/parents where you find lots of useful information, resources and videos.
  • Asking your child to invite you to the UCAS Google classroom. On this you will find a timeline along with any additional information that they may need to complete their application.

A pack is going home with students over the next few days containing a school closure form, a mandate form for the School Council 200 Club, new photo permission form for S1s, an email and NHS form and an Annual Data Check form which is required to be checked by parent/carers, updated as appropriate, signed and returned by Friday 26th October.
