    • Lucy Brown, Youth Rugby Development Officer

Information Update

We still have outstanding PC1s and Annual Data Check forms which are required to be checked by parent/carers, updated as appropriate, signed and returned. Packs also contain photo permission forms, email consent forms and school closure forms if we do not hold a copy on file.

S1 packs contain Show My Homework, SchoolPay, locker forms and Home Economics information in addition.

DGS Expedition Swaziland 2021

We have received more notes of interest than we have places available for Expedition Swaziland, so we are now moving to the next stage of team selection. Students who have expressed an interest will receive a letter and written application form today which is to be returned to Mr Martin by Friday 27 September. After this, a shortlist of students will be invited for interview and the team will be finalised.

Any queries, students are asked to see Mr Martin ASAP.

Interhouse Sports Competition

All S1 and S2 students will be taking part in a student run interhouse sporting competition. S2s will be taking part in a combined hockey and football competition on Friday 27 September, and S1s on Friday 4 of October. The competition will last from periods 1 to 3, and all students taking part are therefore asked to attend school in house coloured PE kit, not uniform. Tracksuits are recommended to be worn over PE kit.

This will come at no cost the students, and uniform will not be required for period 4 after the event.

Suitable footwear, such as trainers are suggested for both football and hockey, with moulded studs being allowed, but metal studs being prohibited. If students have gum shields, their own hockey sticks or shin pads, these can be brought in. Students should also bring a water bottle and a snack for break time, to ensure they maintain hydration throughout the competition.

Due to the scale of the event, parents and carers are unfortunately unable to attend the competition. Students will be outside for the duration of the event and therefore, the weather must be appropriate for this to take place. In the event of a poor weather forecast, a final decision on the running of the event will be made on the Thursday lunchtime (26th for S2s) (3rd for S1s) and all parents and carers will be informed via DGS’s group text system.

In the event of a weather call off – we will attempt to move the competition to a later date.

Seasons For Growth

We are planning to offer Seasons for Growth between now and Christmas. This intervention is for anyone who has been struggling to cope with significant life changes such as bereavement, divorce, separation, family breakdown and other changes.

It is made up of 8 sessions and will take place 1 period per week (this will rotate to avoid your child missing the same class each week). If you feel that your child would benefit from taking part, please contact their Guidance Teacher.

Well done to the following ex-students who have graduated from the University of Aberdeen:
