Interhouse Sports Competition – S1s

The sports leaders have changed the date of the S1 Interhouse tournament to Friday 11 October – weather dependant.

S2 Activities Week 2020

We launched our S2 Activities Week 2020 this week at assembly.  Students were given letters to take home with details, including payment details: Initial letter – Activities Week.  Returns are due back on Wednesday 23 October.  If you have any queries, please contact Mr Maxton at the school.

S2 Parent/Carer Consultation Evening

This is being held on Tuesday 8 October from 5- 7.30pm.  Letters were issued to students on Tuesday 1 October: S2 Parents Eve Letter. Please speak to your son/daughter’s Guidance Teacher if you have any questions.

Change to payments to school – Schoolpay

Thank you to all of you who have already signed up for Schoolpay.

From 28 October 2019 all schools will be going cashless for all regular payments and if you haven’t already done so, you will need to sign up to use Schoolpay to make payments into school using the link below to register https://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/info/210622/schoolpay

Senior Learner Experience Validated Self Evaluation

On Thursday, some senior classes were shadowed by teachers from DGS and colleagues from other schools as part of a validated self-evaluation. The observers commented on the extremely positive relationships between students and staff and were impressed with the quality of the learning experiences. Thank you to the students who attended the focus group, your contributions were extremely valuable.

School Photographs

The school photographer will be in school on Wednesday 9 October to photograph students in S1, S4, and S6. Please would students ensure they are wearing full school uniform; prefects should wear white shirt, tie and blazers.

Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

Due to the demand for Duke of Edinburgh in the Dunbar area, we are keen to explore how we can establish and support a community DofE group. The school will be working with ELC Community Learning and Development to help support parents and carers and members of the community to establish this new group. We will be holding an information evening on Thursday 10 October at 7pm.

Information Update

We still have outstanding PC1s and Annual Data Check forms which are required to be checked by parent/carers, updated as appropriate, signed and returned. Please can they be handed in ASAP.

2018-2019 Senior Tracking & Monitoring Reports Feedback

DGSA Prosecco Afternoon Tea

DGSA Prosecco Afternoon Tea and Auction – Saturday 2 November, 3-5pm, Belhaven Church Hall.  Tickets (£10) are on sale now from the school office or Michelle Mallen (07535 434285).  This is always a sell-out event so get your tickets early to ensure you don’t miss out!
