‘How to Pass’ Parent/Carer Information Evening – 21 November 2019, 6-8pm

In order to support student learning and success in the SQA exams, Dunbar Grammar School is holding an information evening for all parents and carers of students sitting National 5s and Higher qualifications in May 2020.

The evening is intended to inform parents and carers of S4/5/6 pupils about the courses their children are studying, the assessments, course materials, timelines, and how they can help their child to achieve their potential in their exams.  More specifically, this will include a subject specific focus on strategies and techniques that pupils can utilise to develop their learning at home.

All certificated subjects will be represented by a wide range of teachers on the night. Please discuss with your child which subjects are most relevant to them. Each information session will last approximately 15 minutes and will consist of a short presentation from each department followed by an opportunity to ask teachers any questions about how pupils can be supported through the remainder of a challenging year. We would also like to encourage pupils to attend the event.

You will be warmly welcomed to the event by Mrs Slowther in the assembly hall at 6pm. We look forward to working with you to help maximise your child’s potential. Letters are being given to S4-S6 students: How To Pass Evening

S3 CSI Workshop

A group of S3 students took part in a CSI workshop this week, which was a big success! Pupils successfully identified the criminal who brutally attacked one of Dunbar’s most respected caretaker! They gathered DNA, blood samples, shoe prints, and other evidence from the crime scene and used their scientific knowledge to solve the mystery. At the end of the day, they even participated in a justice trial and sentenced the criminal to 10 years in prison! Thank you to Ms Devillers for organising.
