A warm welcome back to our students. It has been a busy and positive first week back. Staff have really enjoyed reconnecting with our students and we have been really impressed with how they have adapted to all of the mitigations which are in place.
Senior Phase Assessments
The next six weeks is our main window for senior phase assessments. A copy of the timetable can be found here. I would like to reiterate that this is not a typical examination diet. This is a period of ongoing teaching and learning, with in-class assessments.
It is important that all senior students attend school full time, and attend all classes in between assessments. As well as continuing with planned teaching and learning, their teachers will give ongoing feedback, guidance and support to prepare students on a continual basis.
This letter was sent to all senior students and their parents and carers today, detailing the approach to assessment feedback: Assessment Feedback letter
Senior Phase Study Zones
Over the next 6 weeks, we will be making the atrium and library computing suite available to senior students for independent study at the following times:
- Monday to Thursday 3.30 – 4.30pm
- Friday 12.30 – 2.30pm
Mr McBride has sent an email to all students who borrowed a school Chromebook. It is imperative that these are returned as quickly as possible as they are required in school. We would ask that students return these as soon as possible.
Ms Gillespie is available each day at lunchtime for students to collect Lateral Flow Device (LFD) test kits. Any student who wishes to still sign up to this, must complete the consent form:
Paper copies of the consent form can also be collected from Ms Gillespie, or printed here:
Mental Health Support from East Lothian Council
It has been so great to see our students back happy and smiling under their face-coverings! This year has been difficult for everyone in so many different ways and to extremely varied degrees.
Please continue to contact guidance staff or email@example.com should you have any concerns about a young persons wellbeing.
In addition, East Lothian has created a Mental Health & Wellbeing Information Point directed at young people as well as parents, carers, and members of the community. It provides valuable information regarding mental health and wellbeing and where to get support.
