Scottish Government Covid Update
The latest Scottish Government Update advised that all current mitigations in schools (including face coverings) will remain in place until at least the October Holidays https://www.gov.scot/news/school-safety/
Focus on wise and responsible use of mobile phones
After the September weekend until the October Holiday, we are going to have a whole school focus on the wise and responsible use of mobile phones. This technology is part of everyday life and has many useful benefits. However, it is important that we maintain a focus on educating our students about using this responsibly.
A copy of our mobile device policy can be found here: Mobile-Device-Policy.pdf (edubuzz.org). The messages in this will be reiterated to students in all classes. As parents and carers we would ask that you support us by discussing this with your young person at home.
This year’s event will take place on Friday 1 October. Unfortunately parents and guests will not be able to attend but will be able to view it via the school website at their leisure at a later date.
Letters have gone home this week to students who are receiving awards.
S1 Early Lunch
From next week, S1s will not be released early for lunch. However, they do still need to remain in school grounds for the remainder of this term, unless they are going home for lunch.
We have an “Attendance” inbox for parents to email with student absences/appointments. Please email with a return date, or email each day: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please see the following link for our extra-curricular clubs on offer to all students. Pleases note that more may be added throughout the year.
Donations of Unused Uniform
We keep a supply of laundered uniform items in school for students who may require access to these. If your young person has any items of uniform which they no longer use and is still in good condition, these can be donated by handing them into the school office.
Date of the next Parent Council (DGSC) meeting
The next meeting of the parent council is on Wednesday 6th October at 7pm. If you would like to attend, please email email@example.com and a meeting link will be sent to you.
Macmillan Bake Sale
The Catering and Events class will be hosting a bake sale to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support on Thursday 23 September. This will take place over break and lunch in the old Social Space and the Atrium. Items for sale include: tiffin; rocky road; millionaire shortbread; cupcakes and brownies and will cost between 25p to £1. Students, please support if you can.
A pack is going home with students over the next few weeks containing a PC1 and an Annual Data Check form which is required to be checked by parent/carers, updated as appropriate, signed and returned. Packs will contain photo permission forms and school closure forms if we do not hold a copy on file.
If you have no email address, it is essential that you inform the school. Where this is the case, the weekly email information is automatically updated on our website.
NHS Flu Vaccinations
The deadline for returning the vaccination forms has been extended. Please return these to the school office asap.
