East Lothian Works and Edinburgh College Courses – Industrial Action
In light of the widespread industrial action taking place on Tuesday 28th February ELC and SCP courses will not run on campus on that day. Timetabled online classes will go ahead as normal. Where possible/appropriate, lecturers will upload learning materials to moodle or Microsoft Teams. Please advise pupils to check their e-mails and Teams accounts. Transport to cancel all transport and pupils should not attend courses on these days
We are aware that discussions are ongoing and will provide an update should the position change
School Review – Parents’/Carers’ Questionnaires
From the 13th to the 15th March, we will be working with East Lothian Council colleagues to carry out a range of self-evaluation activities around the themes of Safeguarding/Child Protection and Personalised Support. To assist us with this, we would be extremely grateful if as many parents/carers as possible could complete the two surveys below. They are very short and should only take 5 minutes to complete

Please see attached information for each.
A School College Partnership course is a course that runs on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon at Edinburgh College. East Lothian Council only provides transport for the ones that are in the document above. If there is another SCP course on the Edinburgh College website that you would like to apply to, you can, but you would need to make your own way there. There are some SCP courses this year which are usually in high demand which have a different application process. These are:
Construction
Electrical Skills
Building Services Engineering
Hair & Beauty
Automotive
Engineering Nat 5
If you are interested in any of these courses then you should see Mr Maxton as quickly as possible.
It’s also worth noting that other Edinburgh College SCP courses will be open for application until they are full. So if you are interested in one of these then you should see me ASAP. Particularly S4 and S5 as your course choice interviews are not until March. Edinburgh College also runs Foundation Apprenticeships. See Mr Maxton if you would like to do one of these courses. The applications for these courses are completed on the Edinburgh College website.
An East Lothian Works course is a course run by the employability arm of East Lothian Council on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. Please see a list of them above. Please note that you should look at the Senior Phase courses. If you are interested in these please see Mr Maxton for more information or ask at your course choice interview.
East Lothian works also run 4 Foundation Apprenticeships. There is a Powerpoint attached above which explains them. Again please see Mr Maxton if you would like to apply for one or discuss at your Course Choice meeting.
If you have any questions regarding any of this please see Mr Maxton ASAP.
