Update 31 March 2023

Important Information Out this Week:

S4/5/6 Reports

Senior Phase reports have been sent home today.  The Working Grade (WG) detailed in these will be the estimate grade which is sent to the SQA SP Letter Final

Mr McBride held a special assembly today to ask all students to carefully check the presentation levels on their reports and alert him if there are any issues.  We would ask that all parents and carers double check this information and email us at SQA MAILBOX.  Please note that this mailbox will not be monitored over the holidays, but we will respond when we return in April.

Supporting Senior Study

Exam Booster Student Letter has been sent to all S4/5/6 students and their parents and carers.  It details national online resources to support study over the Easter break and our Grade Booster sessions which are planned for April and May.

S6 Leavers Ceremony

Stars of the Week
Martin Corrigan (Pupil Support)

Nomination said
‘Mr C was an amazing support when we attended the disability sports event last Friday. He made sure the student he was supporting, was able to participate in all of the sports available to him and took the time to chat with coaches to look at ways to improve the student’s experience in PE in school.  He even went so far as to borrow swim shorts and got in the pool to take part in water polo. The student was particularly impressed with Mr C’s underwater handstands!’
Martin– you are a DGS Star, thank you for all you do!

Suzanne Hamilton (PT Social Subjects)
An email from a parent this week said…….
‘Mrs Hamilton’s help has been amazing, she has gone out of her way to support my young person and has such a lovely positive manner. Her enthusiasm for her subject clearly rubs off on the students. Mrs Hamilton is an absolute star and if I could, I would nominate her for star of the week.’
Suzanne– you are a DGS Star, thank you for all you do!

Students

Ava Cooney  S2 (Effort)
Ava has been striving for success in her S2 Philosophy class. She is always focused, pays attention to detail and puts in her full effort. She is also really supportive to her classmates and is a constant motivator to other pupils, encouraging those around her to engage with the challenges ahead. Well done Ava for RISING to the challenge!!

Rachel Barker S5 (Effort)
Rachel has worked incredibly hard all year in class but since the prelim she has been going above and beyond. She is always focused and keen to know how she can improve, often coming in her own time to seek further help with her history essays and sources. Additionally, she is a really positive person to have out on the astro at hockey and we all especially look forward to sessions when she is there. Well done Rachel, keep up the fantastic work!

Your DGSA Need You!
The DGSA is the fundraising group of the Parent Council and needs your help more now than ever!  Our current Chair, Treasurer and other members are leaving after many years as their children will be moving on from school – so we desperately need new members to take the group forward!
As school budgets are stretched to the limit, we help by raising much needed funds to purchase equipment and create opportunities which support and enhance the educational experience of all our students at DGS.
Over the years we have raised thousands of pounds to support the school, funding school trips and equipment for art, science, sports, maths, music, tech, home economics, learning support, drama, Duke of Edinburgh and much more.
We couldn’t do this without our lovely group of parent and carer volunteers! We are all juggling busy lives with work and family but every little helps so even if you can only spare a couple of hours once a year it will make a huge difference and all our children will benefit!
If you can join us please email  admin@dunbargrammar.elcschool.org.uk and we will get in touch with you.
THANK YOU
