The STARS of the week are……..
Staff
Lynda Kazimoglu (Art)
Nominations said…….
Mrs Kazimoglu received a very creative and lovely nomination.  A student took the time to create a Power Point explaining why Ms K should be their teacher again next year! Below are just a few extracts.
Ms K is the best art teacher for many reasons like…

    • Nice art projects
    • Is very kind
    • Helps us achieve as well as you can
    • Very funny
    • Just makes art better in general

I like her a lot and is a nice teacher to help you get your work done in a given time and helps us and gives us ideas or inspiration and push us to the best we can be
All of her ideas are very cool and are very fun to do and having her again will definitely help us through the year
Lynda– you are a DGS Star, thank you for all you do!

Students

A pair of STARS – Lilly MacKail and Teagan Daly! (S4)

 They had multiple nominations;

Teagan (Daley) and Lilly (Mackail) were a fantastic addition to the outdoor cooking team for S1 Activities Week. They were onsite first thing every morning and worked tirelessly throughout all our sessions. They volunteered for every job and were not afraid to get dirty! We would not have been able to run the event as well as we did without their help – all the staff were very impressed with their hard work. Staff were also delighted that Lilly shared her birthday cake! They were a great example to the younger pupils and are definitely DGS stars.

Teagan and Lilly have worked tirelessly every week helping with all aspects of Dinner@DGS and  baking for the Community Coronation Party in Lauderdale Park.  They also supported the school with numerous tasks throughout the school for the last four weeks.  They are committed, hardworking and all-round STARS.  We really appreciate all they do for the school

Active Schools

We have had another great year for our Sports Clubs here at DGS with us over 400 pupils participating in sport and  participating in fixtures regionally and nationally. We have ran 25 Sports Clubs at lunchtime and after school ranging from Table Tennis to Golf! To do this we need volunteers and we are lucky we have a great staff willing to help along with club coaches.

We are looking for parent volunteers to help with our Sports Clubs next year and would like to hear from those out there that would be interested. In return we can pay for any coach education/ officiating/first aid courses you wish to attend along with coaches kit. If you think this is something you want to do or would like more info please contact our Active Schools Coordinator Scott Marnoch smarnoch@elcschool.org.uk

Young Person’s Free Bus Travel Scheme

Transport Scotland is conducting an evaluation of the Young Person’s Free Bus Travel Scheme, with a survey available for parents/carers of children aged 5-23, and young people themselves aged 12-23.  Feedback is being sought from both those with experience of using the Young Person’s Free Bus Travel, and those that do not use it in order to find out why.

The survey seeks to understand use of the scheme and any benefits or challenges that have been experienced since its introduction. It should take about 10 minutes to complete, and there is the opportunity to enter a free prize draw to win up to £250 in One4All vouchers.

The survey can be accessed here: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/Yr1-YPFreeBusTravel
