Students
Gabriel Burton (S2) Effort
‘I would like to nominate Gabriel for his effort in Social Subjects. Every lesson he goes above and beyond what is expected in class and is always willing to push himself in everything he does. Not only that, he is also willing to help others in class and have encouraging things to say to others who might need a smile to their face. Gabriel you are an absolute ray of sunshine and you truly deserve this. Well Done!’
Jodi Smith-Lang (S3) Effort
Jodi is just one of those pupils you can always rely on to complete all tasks to the best of her ability, to give everything a go with a positive approach and a smile on her face. She works solidly throughout the year. She produced a beautiful self-portrait print this week.

There are lots of opportunities to enjoy a wide range of music, with 36 gigs happening in 16 venues.
If you want to enjoy sessions with your family, some gigs worth looking out for are:
– The ELJam Youth Bands Showcase around Saturday lunchtime at the Parish Hall includes several bands from Dunbar Grammar as well as talent from other high schools across the county
– Three great gigs in Lauderdale Park Saturday and Sunday with refreshments available from Wishing Tree Cafe
– Shunpike Social Club – a 30 piece brass ensemble on the move in Lauderdale
– Two laid back acoustic sessions at Dunbar Garden Centre
– Martha Cornish performing solo at The Dolphin Inn
Many more gigs are happening day and night in pubs and hotels across town.
Depending on the time of the gig and your age, some of these may be suitable to enjoy as a family.
Check with the venue if in doubt about age and entry restrictions.

Connecting Dunbar to Tranent
AECOM has been commissioned by East Lothian Council to provide technical support on proposals to deliver a high quality and inclusive active travel corridor between Dunbar and Tranent; further details are available on the project website: www.eastlothian.gov.uk/dunbar-to-tranent
As part of initial work, we are keen to receive comments from stakeholders to understand problems and opportunities related to walking, wheeling, cycling, public transport and placemaking along the study corridor.
Online Survey, which can be accessed at the following link: https://online1.snapsurveys.com/Dunbar-To-Tranent
The survey will be available until 11:59pm on Friday 15th September 2023.
Pop-up events will also be held at the following locations and times:
- Haddington: Square in front of Corn Exchange, Tuesday 29th August, 12pm to 4pm
- East Linton: The Mart, Thursday 31st August, 12pm to 4pm
- Tranent: High Street near Jackie Crookston Statue, Tuesday 5th September, 12pm to 4pm:
- Dunbar: Corner of High Street and Silver Street, Thursday 7th September, 12pm to 4pm
The study team will be in attendance and members of the public and stakeholders are invited to drop by at any time during these hours and share their thoughts on transport related problems and opportunities on the study corridor. Please note that there will be a second round of engagement, which is programmed to take place in the autumn; this will focus on potential proposals.
