Dear Parents and Carers
I am sure many of you will be glad to see that this weeks update is a shorter one. Remember that the school will be closed on Friday 17th and Monday 20th September for the September weekend.
NHS Flu Vaccinations Reminder and date
The deadline for returning the vaccination forms has been extended and can still be returns to the school. Please return these to the school office asap. Vaccinations will be on Wednesday 13th October in both Campuses.
Parent Council Meeting
There will be a parent council meeting on Tuesday 14th at 7pm. See the SPS parent Council Facebook page on how to join.
COVID Current Local Mitigations at Dunbar Primary School
We will continue to discuss with the Local Health Protection Team regarding removing the current mitigations in place at Dunbar Primary School. We are currently planning that on the Tuesday 21st September we will be able to remove the requirement for bubbles and as a result we will be able to introduce hot school meals in both Campuses as well as some other things within the school day.
We will inform parents and Carers on Thursday 16th as by then we will have a clearer picture of whether we will be removing the mitigations. Details of the removal of mitigations in primary schools is provided on the link below.

Draft Poverty Plan Survey
Tackling the causes and effects of poverty in East Lothian is one of the, if not the, most important priorities for East Lothian Council as we begin to recover from the COVID pandemic.
“Overcoming poverty is not a gesture of charity. It is an act of justice. It is the protection of a fundamental human right, the right to dignity and a decent life.” Nelson Mandela
Following publication of the East Lothian Poverty Commission report in 2017 much has been done over the last few years to reduce poverty and inequalities, but much more still needs to be done.
The pandemic and lockdowns have increased poverty in East Lothian. (Read the leaflet, ‘Poverty in East Lothian’ for more information.) So it is vital that we put in place a new Plan to reduce poverty and improve the economic and life chances of all our citizens.
A Draft Poverty Plan for 2021 – 2023 has been prepared for the Council by a working group including representatives from key council services, NHS Lothian and community and voluntary groups.
The Draft Plan sets out objectives and actions that should be prioritised over the next two years.
The Draft Poverty Plan and a summary easy read version are available to download below.
Please read the draft plan before answering the questions in this consultation. Please let us know if you need the document in an accessible format.
