Dunbar Grammar School Open Morning – Saturday 11th June
After 2 years of COVID mitigations, DGS are desperate to open their doors back up to parents and carers and offer an opportunity for the whole DGS community to reconnect.
They are therefore delighted to be able to host an Open Morning on Saturday 11th June from 10am – 12pm. This will offer the opportunity for parents and carers to visit the school and have a student led tour around the building. The leadership team will also be on hand to answer questions and have a chat.
More information about this event will follow.
Relay For Life
Relay for Life Dunbar is an exciting new 24 hour walking event taking place at Hallhill on 25/26th June 2022. It is a fun, free and family friendly event with teams taking turns to walk round the track for a full 24 hours to raise funds for live saving cancer research work in Scotland! We aim to celebrate cancer survivors, remember lost loved ones and join together in the fight to beat cancer.
As well as the teams, on Saturday, there will be stalls, entertainment, food and children’s activities open to the whole community, and we’d love you to come along. More info on facebook @relayforlifedunbar or email relaydunbar@gmail.com
A special Candle of Hope ceremony will take place where the track will be lit up from 9pm with candle bags decorated or dedicated by children, families and community groups. You can buy a bag (suggested donation £5 but any donation large or small very welcomed) and decorate it then return it to the school ideally by end May, or hand it into Be Green in the High Street. Or if you’d like to dedicate a bag to a loved one, or with a message of hope, please donate here and email us with the dedication and we can put it on a candle bag for you: https://relay.cancerresearchuk.org/site/TR?fr_id=2110&pg=entry
Please get in touch if you’d like to find out more, have an idea to help us raise even more funds, or to help out on the day! Thanks for reading. Together we can beat cancer!

Information for parents
Did you know that Dyslexia Scotland is Scotland’s national charity for children and adults with dyslexia and those who support them?
Our aim is to help people reach their potential and we do this in a number of ways. Our volunteer led branches, including Dyslexia Scotland South East, are an important way to share experiences and let people know that they’re not alone. Dyslexia Scotland South East covers Edinburgh, Mid and East Lothian. We don’t always have the answer, but knowing that you are not the only one experiencing difficulties can be the first step on the road to making things better.
