Nursery to P1 Transition Event 9th May

2019 Nursery to P1 Transition

Thank you to all the parents who came along this morning or who are coming in this evening to learn more about P1 and the transition from nursery. We hope that you found it an interesting and informative session. As promised please find attached the link to the powerpoint from the session.

If you have any further questions then please do not hesitate to get in touch with Mrs Murray or Mrs Legge.

Can you help fill up our new Play Pod?

We are very excited to have taken delivery of our new Play Pod. This is sited out in our John Muir Campus playground and will be used by all the children at lunchtimes and during lesson times. We aim to fill it with a variety of very open-ended materials which the children can use to build structures, create role play scenarios and unleash their creativity and imagination in lots and lots of ways. What may seem like junk to us can very quickly become a knight’s castle, a spaceship, a racing car or a den with some team work and inspiration!

We will need lots of materials to fill the pod and to ensure that our large number of pupils can join in with this exciting play opportunity.

Can you help? Perhaps you have some materials that have been lurking in the garage or loft for some time awaiting a visit to the tip?  Please see a list of materials below- please give Joanne Legge at John Muir Campus a call if you can  help- we can arrange collection. If you have something that isn’t on the list but that you think may be suitable please also give Joanne a call.

Thank you!

John Muir Campus- Great Garden Tidy Up

On the afternoon of Friday May 12th we will be opening our John Muir Campus courtyard garden to give it a pre-summer spruce up. Could you spare an hour to help? No gardening expertise required just a little energy to help us weed and trim the bushes, tidy leaves and paint our wooden furniture.

Our staff and pupils love using the garden as a learning environment. This term our P1s will be growing lots of flowers and vegetables in our planters. Our children love reading and drawing in its peaceful surroundings.

This event is being organised by our Pupil Voice Group who will be on hand to serve refreshments – tea, coffee, juice and cake will be served.

The event will take place between 1pm and 3pm

We would love to see you there!

Please could you return all school library books before the end of this term. We are closing the library during the last week of term to enable our wonderful parent volunteers to sort, tidy and carry out a stock take. This will ensure that we know exactly what we already have in time for purchasing new books  from the proceeds of our Readathon 2017 (details to follow). Please could you have a search under beds, high on shelves and return any books you may have- please don’t worry if you’ve had them for a while!

We are looking for parent volunteers to help for an hour a week during class library time- please contact Mrs Legge if you would like to get involved. It makes a huge difference to have an extra pair of hands when the classes visit the library.

Thank you for your continued support, it is very much appreciated.

Spooky Goings On!

Our Pupil Voice Group worked very hard on Thursday afternoon to prepare decorations, wash apples and mix gooey spaghetti and jelly for our Spooky Disco that evening. The event was very well attended by every category of ghost and ghoul. Our judges had a very difficult task to choose the best pumpkin from amongst fairy carriage, minion and baby pumpkins! Well done to Anya in P2B, our worthy winner. Thank you to all our entrants- what a wonderful effort!
