British Sign Language – Making it Easier – Information Sessions

As part of the Council’s new British Sign Language Plan we are working to make it easier for deaf BSL users to contact the Council. There is a new national service available called contactScotland-BSL which can allow deaf BSL users to get in touch with us and other services.

contactSCOTLAND-BSL is a Scottish Government service that connects deaf BSL users throughout Scotland through an online BSL interpreting video relay service (VRS) with all of Scotland’s public authorities and voluntary organisations (Third Sector) and beyond.

For more information visit https://contactscotland-bsl.org/

We will be hosting demonstrations about this service on Monday 25th of November at the following times:

  • 9.30-10.30am at the Esk Rooms @ Brunton Theatre, Musselburgh
  • 12 to 1pm at  Garleton Room @ Penston House, Macmerry
  • 4-5pm at the Regent Room @  Brunton Musselburgh

This sessions are open to local organisations and individuals across East Lothian who would like to learn how to use this service. To book a space please email aedmond@eastlothian.gov.uk indicating which session you would like to attend.
