Wannabe Wednesday P4C

February 9th, 2017

We had great fun on Wannabe Wednesday! We dressed up as what we wanted to be when we grow up and we had an interesting talk from Arlo’s mum, who told us about being an architect and a lighting designer.

Mrs MacDonald forgot to send our photo to Miss Eeles on time, so here is our photo now!

Madras Dance workshops

February 9th, 2017

Last week P4 have been lucky enough to have a Madras dance session with Louise, the East Lothian Dance teacher!

We learned some single and double hand movements then some fancy footwork. Next, we worked in small groups to put together 4 hand movements and added this to the dance that Louise taught us.

We had an amazing time, thank you so much!

Here are some clips from P4C’s and P4E’s dance sessions.

India Talk from Robin Hamilton

January 27th, 2017

P4s were lucky enough to have a lovely talk from Mr Hamilton today who told us about the Rotary Club’s recent trip to India to support the Kalimpong project. The children heard about a new school in the Himalayas and the group’s other exciting excursions in India.

Thank you so much to Mr Hamilton for coming in to share this with us. We enjoyed learning the correct way to greet people in India and will practise this in our classes!

P4C reading homework

January 26th, 2017

Well done to all of P4C on their great Reading Detectives homework so far! Children are putting in a lot of effort at home and are definitely benefitting from the support they are being given.

Homework is due each Monday because that is when we share in class. If books could be returned on that day too, that would be great as the books are swapped between groups on this day too!

Here are the homework instructions for our Reading Detectives work:

December 19th, 2016

We’ve just had great fun at our party where we’ve played games, danced a lot and had loads of fun!

P4 Badminton Festival

October 28th, 2016

On Wednesday all the P4s participated in a Badminton festival at the Grammar School, organised by Christine Black.

They tried a series of activities to develop their badminton skills and had lots of fun!

If the children particularly enjoyed the festival and would like to take up Badminton as a sport, they are welcome to come along and try it out on a Tuesday evening at the Grammar school from 7-8pm.

Thanks to Mrs Black and all her helpers for such a great morning!

Harry Potter Day P4C

October 24th, 2016

We’ve come to the end of our Harry Potter topic and celebrated with Harry Potter Day!

Many of us came dressed in our House Colours and we enjoyed a fun morning as if we were students at Hogwarts!

We tried Potions with Professor MacDonald, Spells with Professor McPheat, Bertie Bott’s Bean sorting with Professor McDougall, a film and book comparison with Professor Black and Harry Potter Drama with Professor Williamson! This was a great morning where the teachers and students looked to be enjoying themselves!

We had so much fun with our Harry Potter project and showed that we could analyse characters, describe settings and explain the plot.

Many P4s have enjoyed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone so much that now they are starting Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This is an ideal book to practice reading aloud alongside parents and carers as well as to enjoy listening to an adult read it aloud! A perfect book for Dunbar Unplugs and Reads!

October 24th, 2016

P4s have enjoyed 4 weeks of Taekwondo before the October holidays!

We learned to count in Korean and learned the names for all the kicks and punches Brad showed us! On our last day with Brad, we even got to try fighting a champion at Taekwondo!

Thank you so much to Brad Robertson from all the P4s and their teachers!

Badminton Tasters

September 13th, 2016

On Monday 12th September, all the P4s enjoyed a Badminton taster with Mrs Black from Badminton in East Lothian.

This taster was to prepare us for our Badminton Festival in October!

We had a great time – here are some photos from P4C and P4E!
