Welcome to the P1 blog. Many apologies for it taking so long to get this up and running for you – we’ve been rather busy 😉 It is our aim that we will update this with more and more information about, and lovely photos of, your children’s learning with increased frequency. Any outstanding photo permission slips would be gratefully received so that we do not inadvertently post pictures that you would rather us not.
This term the children have been using interdisciplinary learning to study Light and Dark. We have been exploring the various celebrations around the world that occur in these months from fireworks and Halloween through Divali and Hanukkah; the Swedish festival of Santa Lucia and Christmas.
Above and below, you can see the children using natural materials to create a mandala using rangoli patterns. Miss Grierson and Mrs McDonald were really excited to see how the children used their knowledge of symmetry to add detail.
The children continued to show their learning about the Divali traditions in the classroom using coloured rice to make rangoli patterns on paper plates – these are currently decorating our learning wall and will come home with the children at the end of the topic.
Watch this space next week to find out more…..!
