The gardening club have been very busy weeding, planting special flowers that help bees, planting vegetables and tidying the playground. A huge thank you to Mrs Dorrian for all her help! Today we made some transient art, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy!

Busy Busy Busy in P1/2

[nggallery id=48].We have had a very busy week in P1/2. On Monday we had a visit from The Catherine Wheels Theatre Company who performed their play Stuck. It was a thrilling and physically dynamic show performed in a boat in the middle of the school hall, the children were amazed at how the school hall was transformed into the ocean with all the sealife around them. On Wednesday we had the opportunity to do some den building in the playground. We worked with our P5/6 buddies in small groups and had lots of different materials to make anything we wished. We had some fantastic structures and great fun. The children want to do this again soon!!! On Friday we had a visit the Science Festival at Dunbar we seen a bubble show and learnt a lot about solids, liquids and gases. Also on Friday we had Red Nose Day everyone looked great in their red outfits and we raised a lot of cash for good causes by buying red noses and lovely cakes.

Update from P2/3!

We have had a busy few weeks. Today we went to the Science Festival at Dunbar and it was FANTASTIC! It was all about bubbles and we learnt lots of interesting facts. Did you know that the colour of a bubble can tell you when it is about to pop? When it goes yellow and then clear then it will definitely pop!

Today was also COMIC RELIEF. We all dressed in red and bought lots of yummy cakes to raise money. Well done to everyone for all their hard work.

In maths we have been learning about measuring length, weight and volume/capacity. Our homework this week was to look at packaging and note the weight in grams. We have also been practising mental addition and subtraction and P3 have been practising their times tables and division.

In language we have looked at letter writing. Hopefully after the Easter holidays we will be writing to some children in Sri Lanka that Miss Andrew worked with before she came to East Linton. We have also been reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and doing lots of active spelling.

We have also been looking at the sugar content of food, doing problem solving in maths and had an outdoor den building afternoon.

Here are some pictures of what we have been up to!
