P4 Outdoor Day

The children in Primary 4 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the woods with Bill from Outdoor Education yesterday.

It was a lovely sunny day and we all really enjoyed being outside for the day. We walked to the forest from the car park and played some games on the way. When we got there we all worked together to put up a huge teepee then went on a scavenger hunt and made pictures of ourselves with everything that we found. Then we did a night line in the forest and had to help each other to move around safely. After lunch we worked together to put up hammocks and had a fantastic time in them!

We really enjoyed our outdoor day and hope that we can go again some time. Here are some photos.

HAPPY BURNS DAY!

We all had great fun wearing our tartan in assembly today (Mr. Baptie even wore his kilt!) We shared what we have all been doing in classes this week for Robert Burns’ Day as part of our whole school Scottish Theme. From Poetry to Art Work……. from Drama to Dancing…….. we had it all…… even a hunt the haggii competition! See if you can spot any in our slideshow. Also look out for Meg the horse’s tail in the P6/7’s version of Tam O’Shanter……. what a tale of a tail!

FAIRTRADE PHOTO SHOOT

Thank you to The East Lothian News for coming to our photo shoot today!

As a result of receiving a grant from East Lothian Council, our enthusiastic Fairtrade Committee have now been able to buy top quality Fairtrade footballs for the school AND also a specially designed banner by Treehouse Print, to not only celebrate the fact that we are a FAIRTRADE SCHOOL, but also that we were the  FIRST Fairtrade School to be awarded this status in the whole of EAST LOTHIAN!

On behalf of Miss Wallace and all the pupil Reps from each class, a special Fairtrade thank you must go to  Beth Vorkuka (our Parent Rep) and Barry Craighead (our Community Rep) for helping us to obtain this grant, believing in us and supporting us, by attending our Fairtrade Committee Meetings and enterprises.

East Linton – Where great inventions happen!

Congratualtions to the seven winners in our science week competition.  We had a fantastic response from all the children who came up with some amazing inventions  from a solar bike to a flying coat!!!  It was a very difficult task to pick the winners.  We had a winner from each class who each received a Wallace and Gromit inventors kit and the top three inventions also received family tickets for a day out at Dynamic Earth.  Well done.
