BYE, BYE BUDDIES!

Primary 1 said a fond farewell to their Primary 7 reading buddies today, while presenting them with beautiful individually designed thank you cards which they made especially for them. They have had great fun pairing up together over the past year in reading, outdoor adventures and many other exciting activities. This partnership has been beneficial to both classes and has brought a great deal of enjoyment to learning!

P7 ENTERTAIN P6!

Primary 7 proudly presented their end of term concert

 “50 YEARS OF BOND”

to P6 and the rest of the school on Tuesday afternoon and then in the evening to their parents, families and friends. The children were a credit to the school, their parents and most of all, to themselves! Their stage management was excellent, their role play of a wide range of characters including James Bonds present and past, was professional and their singing outstanding! Sincere gratitude to you all for your incredible effort, dedication and expertise ……and thank you also to your parents for their support.

CONGRATULATIONS YOU WERE ALL STARS!

P6 ENTERTAIN P7

Our three P6 pupils have been working very hard at home and at school researching, preparing and creating excellent powerpoint presentations which they proudly and most professionally, presented to our P7 pupils today. Their talks were made even more interesting by a varied selection of visual aids, which they used to further enhance their subject matter which included outstanding views and personal photographs of the Scottish Mountains, intriguing details of dinosaurs and tempting images of the world’s top ten fastest cars. They were very well received and even got a standing ovation!

CHILDLINE

Primary 6 and Primary 7 pupils had a most interesting and informative talk from Childline today, followed by individual class workshops, during which they discussed ways of dealing with different scenarios. This work tied in perfectly with our Rights Respecting Schools awareness and reinforced the rights of the child.

ChildLine is a private and confidential service for children and young people up to the age of nineteen. The children were told they can contact a ChildLine counsellor about anything – no problem is too big or too small. Here is a useful link for further information    http://www.childline.org.uk

World of Work Event

The children in P4/5, P5/6 and P6/7 enjoyed a fantastic trip to the library yesterday where they learnt all about different jobs that people do. They heard from a police officer, two fire fighters, a nurse, a librarian and a paramedic and earlier in the week also had a really interesting visit from a vet. It was great to have the opportunity to find out what people do in their jobs and it has prompted lots of discussion.

A huge thank you to the library for organising this event and to all the people who kindly gave up their time to come and talk to us or to help walk the children down to the library.

Here are some pictures of our day.

TUTTI FRUTTI

As part of Health and Eco Week, pupils have been participating in a whole range of activities including the making and then the eating of delicious fruit kebabs. Yum! Yum!

They loved them so much that they danced for joy at our daily whole school “Stop For Dance”, for which the pupils chose their own music, to take a step towards good health!

GIFTS FOR LIFE

As a result of your generosity in helping us to raise over £470 at our Fairtrade Enterprise  “The Big Brew” Coffee Morning last term, P6/7 and the Fairtrade Committee have now decided which Fairtrade Charities (arranged through Traidcraft) we would like to support. The children agreed that it is the practical things that people in poverty need to help them trade their own way to success. Things like training, business know-how, confidence and skills can transform lives. Here are “The Gifts For Life” we chose……
