P6 have started a reflection carousel on a Friday as a way to reflect back on our learning during a week. One group each week will have the chance to write a post for the blog and Miss McKay will post this the following week. Below is our first reflection…
P6 have had a busy week. In Writing we have been doing our Big Writing assessments so we can get our new targets and we have started writing our stories for the BBC 500 words competition. In Numeracy we have made posters about our learning on fractions, decimals and percentages as an assessment. In Art we drew and labelled a brain to link with HWB. We have also been learning about strategies to cope with stress in our home teams. In ICT we presented our learning about how to be healthy and we also did surveys. In RME, we have been sharing what we believe in and discussing that we have a choice. We have moved our Spelling from afternoon sessions to morning sessions. This is working well because we are more focused. Our rule this week is ‘sc’.

Every day is a learning day! We had a busy staff development session this week.
Mrs McDonald led us all as we looked at how French and German are being taught in school – we looked at the feedback from our pupils too and all the teachers made a plan for their class!
Working together, we looked at how we plan for learning and teaching. We shared good ideas and asked questions of each other to improve experiences for our learners. We used the Connect, Extend,Challenge thinking routine.
We used Chalk Talk to explore the ELC Pedagogy Placemats – we asked ourselves how do they match our practice and ethos in school? What can we learn from them?

Today our second level pupils – P5,6 & 7s – worked together in trios to reflect on their learning this term and to plan for their next steps. We encouraged our pupils to see the progression in the learning in their assessment jotters – as individuals and across the three classes. Well done everyone!
Our first Pupil Focus group used the Think, Puzzle, Explore thinking routine to make some plans for our playground – some fantastic ideas!
