We have been learning to draw a portrait using pencils. We had to remember to use the pencils lightly and to have an egg shaped head.
We have entered the pictures into the Evening News’ ‘Draw Your Mum’ competition. So look in Friday’s Evening News to see if any of the pictures were chosen for the short list and vote for your favourite.
Please enjoy looking at our pictures. Happy Mother’s Day from P2.
P2 have been very busy this week!
On Monday 18th February Amanda Braid from WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) came to our assembly. She told us about why is was important to use a composter, how to compost and what we were allowed to put in our composter.
She had a composter cut in half so we could see what happens inside.
On Thursday 21st February P2 had a drama workshop by Helen O’Grady’s Drama School. As you can see from the slideshow and video we had great fun.
We currently have two WOOSH out of school learning projects after school on a Monday and a Tuesday. On Mondays Mrs Bourhill is working on a drama project and on Tuesdays Miss Donaldson is learning all about street dancing.
Here are some photos of the Monday drama group at work:dscf0219.JPG dscf0220.JPG dscf0221.JPG
Sheila Bell came to school to tell us about how we can send our old books to Africa. We are still collecting them at the front of school so keep sending them in. Here are some photos of when she came to talk to us in assembly.
Today saw the start of our first early morning “Funky Fitness” sessions. These begin at 8.15am and are an excellent way to get your day off to a flying start.
The sessions are for P3 and P4 and there are still some spaces left if you would like to join us.
When we talked about our favourite part of the session, one of our children said “I can’t pick a favourite – they were all brilliant!”
Primary 2 and Primary 3 had a visit from the Teddy Bear Circus, a Generation Science workshop which was kindly sponsored by British Energy. We learned about forces with the help of two teddies called Push and Pull. MSP Iain Gray came to join in the fun. Did you see our photo in “The Courier”?
Last week our Primary 5 class held an assembly for the whole school. They told us what they had been learning about the Vikings earlier in the session. It was so good that we wanted to share it with parents/carers and friends, so we have invited them for a special viewing on Friday 22nd February. P5 children are planning to entertain their guests with refreshments after the performance. Please leave us a comment and tell us what you liked best about it.
East Linton are now “out there” in the big wide world. You should be able to find our blog now if you use a search engine. Keep checking our pages to find out what we are doing…but bear with us…we’re still learning!
Please feel free to comment on anything you read or see on our blog.
