This years East Lothian Schools Orienteering Competition occurs on World Orienteering Day – Wednesday 23rd May 2018. The secondary schools and staff competition will be held at the same venue (Musselburgh Outdoor Learning Base) the next day – Thursday 24th May
All Primary pupils (P5 and above) are encouraged to enter. There will be three different courses for the differing age groups.
There will be 6 separate courses on the Friday for all year groups across the secondary range. (S1 to S6) Staff will be encouraged to compete on the S6 course.
Prizes will be offered to individuals and trophies to overall school winners.
Current Primary trophy holders are Pencaitland (P6), Aberlady (P5) and Whitecraig (P7)
As well as the competitive elemnet theere will also be representatives from local orienteering clubs and a number of self directed orienteering activities that you and your pupils can engage with.
Schools may register for the race at any time between 0930 and 1400. Start times will be given to be as soon as possible after registration. Schools bringing more than 20 pupils will be asked to register at a particular time slot through the day. This will be advised a month before the event.

Results will be published online as soon as possible after the event (next working day). All courses will be using SportIdent timing equipment
These events can be used as a springboard to enter into the Scottish Schools Orienteering Competition (usually occurs on First Friday in June – more information to follow as soon as available)
