Orienteering is an exciting and challenging outdoor sport that exercises mind and body. The aim is to navigate between control points marked on an orienteering map. In competitive orienteering the challenge is to complete the course in the quickest time choosing your own best route.
Regular participation in physical activity is associated with improved social skills, integration into peer groups and extending social networks for young people. It is also associated with reduced anxiety and improved self-esteem in young people…

Orienteering Experiences and Outcomes across all Levels
The course itself will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. Registration will take a couple of minutes and the walk to the start will take approximately 10 minutes. Pupils will be set off with at least a 30 second interval between each competitor. For 30 children expect to be on site for a minimum of 75 minutes. We will have other orienteering activities near registration and there is a play park on site and the wonders of the beach along with toilets – so feel free to plan to stay longer.
Results will be live at the venue throughout the day. Each competitor will receive a certificate and there will be opportunities promoted for taking their orienteering further with local club links
