Debbie Riley

Debbie Riley is an Associate Outdoor Instructor; teaching indoor and outdoor rock climbing, hill walking and navigation. 

Debbie’s work experience includes teaching indoor climbing, outdoor climbing, hill walking and navigation. Debbie currently works as a climbing instructor at Foresters Park in East Lothian and at Edinburgh International Climbing Arena. Debbie supervises and assesses Bronze, Silver and Gold Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions for Aspen Outdoors, North Lanarkshire Council and East Lothian Outdoor Learning. 

Debbie previously worked as a Research Scientist in Cancer Research, making use of her PhD in Genetics from Edinburgh University. Debbie trained as a primary school teacher (gaining a PGDE in Education) before moving into Outdoor Education. 

Debbie uses her teaching skills to teach National Navigation Award Bronze and Silver Courses and to coach rock climbing. Debbie has completed all the Munros, climbed extensively throughout Scotland and is currently training to be a Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor.
