Saltire Festival – St Andrew’s Day Lunch

012

Elphinstone Primary took part in a special St Andrew’s Day Lunch.  We entered a Saltire Festival competition for the best themed dining room which was judged on Wednesday 26th. There was also a quiz for all the children (in their whole-school home teams) which was based on St Andrew’s Day and the birthplace of the flag.

The children had fun designing their St Andrew’s Day hats and wearing tartan outfits. It was a colourful and lively display!027026 033

Elphinstone Primary visits the Zoo

Thanks to Alan Russell and Wiseman-Muller, we had a free whole school excursion to the zoo. This included the coach and a visit to see the pandas. Although it rained for most of the day, it didn’t dampen our spirits and we had a great day!

Harvest Assembly

We had an excellent turnout for our annual Elphinstone Harvest Assembly. The children took part in singing Harvest songs, reciting food poems, acting out ‘The Enormous Turnip’ and sharing their learning on harvesting around the world, and how natural disasters can affect this.  Thank you to parents and carers who donated plenty of food. The P6/7 packed these and delivered them to people in our community.

Mini Mudder 2014

The second (hopefully now annual!) Mini Mudder was held yesterday. The younger children had a fun time in the morning on the obstacle course built in the school playground and in the afternoon the older kids were challenged with the 2 mile Mini Mudder Course down Bellyford Lane footpath. Thanks to Megan Houchin who did all the planning for the Mudder this year and came up with a few new challenges and obstacles. Thanks to all the other parents and grandparents who helped set up and tidy up the course and serve refreshments. Also a big thanks to all the teachers and school staff who were great sports in doing the course with the kids as well!

Here are some photos I took of the afternoon Mini Mudder.IMG_3742 (600x800) IMG_3744 (600x800)IMG_3746 (600x800)IMG_3751 (600x800)IMG_3755 (600x800)IMG_3763 (600x800)IMG_3769 (600x800)IMG_3770 (600x800)IMG_3772 (600x800)IMG_3776 (600x800)IMG_3802 (800x600)IMG_3779 (600x800)IMG_3786 (600x800)IMG_3791 (600x800)IMG_3792 (600x800)IMG_3820 (600x800)IMG_3829 (600x800)IMG_3812 (600x800)      IMG_3815 (800x600)  Mini Mudder

Wake Up, Shake Up….it’s Elphinstone Health Week!

Elphinstone Health Week kicked off with a whole school fitness session led by Mrs Berry’s daughter, Steph. The staff, nursery and P1-7 pupils all took part in the half hour morning workout and Steph certainly put us through a non-stop ‘Wake Up, Shake Up’ routine! There were some very pink faces by the end!
