Today on newsround we saw a school that thought gardening was a good skill to learn. Sometimes in Summer we go out and look after the garden. This year we are having a whole week dedicated to looking after our garden.

We would like to …..

– Plant some new flowers, plants or vegetables. Maybe potatoes or carrots.

– Check the bug hotel is still ok and find more logs to put in it.

– Weed the garden.

– Put some grass seed on brown patches of grass.

We are really looking forward to getting muddy and learning about how to take care of our garden.

We are so glad the weather is getting better …. even if it still is pretty cold! We like it because we can take our learning ourside! Today we spent out mental maths time counting different things in our playground 🙂

Last week on our trip to the school library we saw this cool looking book called ‘Dino Egg’ by Charlie James. It is a novel with no pictures. We decided to ask Mrs Paterson to read it to us. So far a little creature (which we thing is a dinosaur) has hatched out of Ned’s breakfast egg. Ned and Bill have kept the creature a secret from their mum. We are very excited to find out what kind of mischief the dino will get up to…….

This morning Clyde the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth games mascot came to tell us all about the games. He was really cool. He looked like a thistle. A thistle is a Scottish flower. He demonstrated some of the sports that will be involved in the games and he even raced Adam! Clyde showed us a really cool video on youtube about how he came to be the mascot for the games. This afternoon we were so lucky! We had a visit fron Benny and Jack from Generation Science. Benny didn’t know much about the sun and the earth so we were helping Jack to teach him all about day and night! We had so much fun singing songs and helping with the props! What a great end to our day and night topic!

We are back after a fab Easter holiday and we are working harder than ever!

Today we have been working on our taking away skills. We have been learning different ways to do different types of sums. We now know some subtraction secret! BUT SHhhhh!!! Don’t tell…..
