On Tuesday 9th September the launch of Ross Rocks Reading was filmed at Ross High and shown live across many schools in Scotland. Each school in the cluster did a short presentation on their favourite book. P6/7 chose ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ in celebration of its 50th year in publication. P1/2 and P3/4/5 watched the launch in school and Mrs Williams commented on the live blog together with many other teachers and pupils.
We are very proud of Emma who designed the fantastic logo for Ross Rocks Reading. As the winner of the design competition, Emma will receive a book voucher.
Mrs Berry was a great help in sourcing Oompa-Loompa costumes for us. We certainly made a visual impact on the audience! The class did very well in their presentation on Roald Dahl’s ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’.
Did you know…….?
Charlie and the chocolate Factory has sold over 20 million copies worldwide and is currently available in 55 languages.
It has been made into a film twice, an opera, and last year in 2013, as a hit West End Musical.
Heston Blumenthal, the celebrity chef, was inspired to recreate Willy Wonka’s ‘lickable wallpaper’!
Looks like a great day and love the outfits
