Harvest is the time of year when farmers gather their crops. Crops are plants that farmers grow in large quantities. Crops are grown all over the world.

People all over the world like to celebrate harvest. They are showing that they are thankful that they have food.

We looked at food in our homes and found out where it all came from. Labels on tins and packets tell us which country the fruit, vegetable or grain is grown.  

Our class has been learning about natural disasters and how that cause damage to the shape of the land and affects the lives of people. Natural disasters like drought and floods ruin crops and cause food shortages. 

We learned about the charities like ‘Action Aid’ and how they help peopleaffected by natural disasters and who are suffering from famine.

It is a sad fact that in our world one in six people do not have enough food to be healthy and lead an active life. Sometimes it is because they have no food and sometimes it is because they are too poor to afford enough food.
