In Music, P6/7 learnt songs that would have been sung during WW2 and visited Carberry Care Home for a Remembrance Day celebration to share their learning with the residents. Everyone had a wonderful time, singing along to “White Cliffs of Dover”, “The Quartermaster’s Stores” and “Pack up your Troubles” amongst others.
Thanks to the residents for sharing their memories of WW2 and for the wonderful WW2 inspired afternoon tea.

P3/4/5 visited P6/7 to ask them questions about the incredible Anderson Shelters they had made as part of their WW2 topic. Can you spot the washing on the line and the wood-chopper?

After examining paintings showing the Jacobites and Redcoats fighting at the “Battle of Prestonpans,” we made our own figures, with weapons, to recreate the battle scene.
Don’t they look fierce!

As part of our learning about the “Highland Clearances,” we used clay to make 3-D models of a Blackhouse, painted them and created a backdrop to show them off.
They look very realistic. Thanks to Mrs McLeod, our Art Specialist.

We visited the National Museum of Scotland on 26th January to find out more about Scottish History.
First we investigated the “Early People” halls, finding out about the stone carvings, Gods and stone age tools.
After that, we enjoyed taking part in a fabulous re-enactment of the second Jacobite rebellion.
To finish, we went to one of the upstairs classrooms to look at artefacts from the Highland Clearances.
A brilliant day, thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
