Love, Your PTA
I hope to see lots of our parents at the up and coming Quiz Night! It is always a super evening and our thanks to Mrs Jones and her team for all the work that has gone in to organising this.
The PTA could not raise what they raise without you engaging with the many events they organise. They are a wonderful team of parents who work tirelessly for the school and the major part of what they do is often unseen by others. The Quiz Night on the 27th February was very well attended and it was a great night. Mr Ben Walker hosted the whole evening in his usual fun style – what a night of hard work for him. We must thank him for giving up his time to do this for the PTA.
The event raised over £3000.00 for the PTA. Local businesses gave generously to the raffle and to the auction and we are very grateful to them all.
The school calendars sold well and Mrs Martin created such lovely pages using such a fun idea. I love looking at the photos. The hamper raffle tickets were also very well supported.
It really is a labour of love for the team and I am eternally grateful to them all. Our school environment is a better place because of what they do.
The next main event will be the summer fair – Saturday 4th June – more details will follow.
The PTA Quiz night approaches. This is a fun night for the parents in our community with an auction and a pay bar. Mr. Walker will be the Quizmaster and Grand Auctioneer for the evening and we are very grateful for this input. He makes the evening fun and helps things go with a swing. Have a think about those teams and await news of the ticket sales! Saturday 27th February from 8pm in the Village Hall.
The PTA would like to say a big thank you to the parents for their fantastic support so far this session. Thanks also for all the generous Christmas Hamper donations, the hampers look fantastic as always. And a final thank you for all the raffle tickets and calendars that you have bought so far!
The PTA would like to say an enormous Thank You to all the children, parents and teachers who came along to the Summer Fair last Saturday and made it a roaring success! You have helped to raise £2500 for the boys and girls of Gullane Primary, which is a fantastic achievement!!! Thank you also for all the generous donations of home baking, raffle and tombola items, and used uniform and sports equipment, they all proved very popular.
Thanks also to Zorb Party, Cool’s, Beatitude, Wood and Wick, and Phoenix Cards for coming along, and to Falko’s and Ramsay’s for supplying the rolls and meat at cost price.
And finally, what about the Great Gullane Bake Off?! Thank you to Mrs Tremmel and Mrs Simon for giving up their time to taste and judge each entry – a trial to be sure! The entries were all amazing, well done to everyone that took the time and care to produce a masterpiece and bring it along. The judges found it very hard to choose the winners in each category, but finally decided that the Great Gullane Bake Off Champions for 2015 were Oli and Lorelai Spink in the Nursery-P2 group, Olivia Thomas and Christian Lindsay in the P3-P4 group, and Anna Eaton and Lucy Lucas in the P5-P7 group – Congratulations! You can see all the entries on the Gullane PTA Facebook page if you missed seeing them on the day.
That’s it from the PTA for this term folks – thank you all once again for your support over the year, you are providing the children of Gullane Primary with numerous opportunities for fun educational experiences!! We may see you again for the odd tuck shop or nearly new uniform sale before the end of term, but otherwise look out for the list of next year’s events, and have a fantastic summer!
Just over two weeks ago, the PTA held a very successful Summer Fayre.
Thanks to all the PTA Members, Staff, Parents, Pupils and Members of the local community who helped to run or attended this.
Yes! It is that time of year again! Gullane Primary needs you – your time and your donations!
Planning and preparations for the fair are underway. We are looking for a great turnout again this year and we have our fingers crossed for a sunny and non-windy day. Bring friends, relatives and neighbours – it will be lovely to see you all!
Mrs Mackay has sent out raffle tickets- good prizes I think- please return as soon as you can even if you choose not to buy a raffle ticket. We will reuse the booklets for those who wish to purchase more. Leaflets are out with a ‘What’s On’ plan- looks fun! I will be running the tombola again and I am looking for bottle donations to make the stall the best one there! Just send in when you can prior to the 6th June- labelling takes some time! We would also like some of your delicious home baking for the sale table. Thank you!
We forgot to say on the ‘Bake Off’ form that we will charge a 50p entry for the competition. I sent out a text this week but no harm in repeating. The key judge is Derek Johnstone, formally a chef working with Albert Roux and now managing his own restaurant in the Golf Inn. He knows his way around a cake!
The current PTA will be standing down at the end of this session. I have to say on behalf of all the school staff how much we have valued and appreciated the work of the PTA which is spearheaded by Mrs Mackay. Our grateful thanks to the whole PTA for the wonderful work they carry out to support our school. This is much appreciated by all of the staff and pupils. We will meet with the PTA to identify any purchases from this session’s fundraising and I am sure the Pupil Parliament will wish to have an input as they are always brimming with ideas.
The PTA AGM will be held in the Garden Room at the Golf Inn at 8pm on Thursday 12th June. All very welcome. Refreshments offered.
(As written for Newsletter)
Firstly, please note that the Summer Fair will take place on Saturday 7th June from 11am until 2pm and not Saturday 31st May as previously stated.
The PTA is starting to get organised with this year’s Summer Fair and we will be in touch nearer the time to ask for volunteers.
In the meantime, we would like to invite those parents who have their own businesses selling products the opportunity to be a stallholder at this year’s fair in exchange for a percentage cut of any profits made. If you are interested, please contact Lucy Mackay (email@example.com) to reserve your place.
Please note that as there are a limited number of stalls available, they will be allocated on a first come first serve basis.
