Today Mrs Anderson thought that you could make a flower- any way that you choose and label the parts.  Below is a work sheet from  that you can print out if you like; however, I know we have amazing artists who will be able to create fantastic flowers.

Bonjour, Hola, HELLO!

Yesterday the boys and I made the most yummy fruit Kebabs. We had a chat about the colour of the rainbow and we thought really hard about what fruit or veg matched that colour. We had lots of great ideas but we had to use what we had in the house. We had strawberries, orange, banana, grapes and blueberries. We unfortunately, didn’t have anything violet.

I am really missing everyone, I hope you guys are having fun at home with your families. Hearing what you have been doing really makes me smile, so thank you.

Tuesday 28th April 2020

Good Morning

Yesterday my children and I tried to grow a rainbow.

it is really easy and fun to watch and I am sure everyone will have these resources in the house.

The first step is to cut some kitchen roll into a strip, you then colour in each end, making it symmetrical, the last step is to put each end into the water and watch the magic happen.

One of our friends emailed these pictures to me and they wanted to show their friends. I hope they make you smile.

Have a lovely day.

  • Chat to your Mummies and Daddies and tell them what you know about Easter.
  • Read/ look at the link down below, which explains Easter and why we celebrate this Christian Festival.
  • If you are able to, print out the pictures of the eggs below and decorate them. If not, you could draw an egg or get your parents to help. You could use patterns such as spots and stripes to decorate your picture. Have a think about what other patterns you could use to decorate your egg.

Friday 27th March 2020

Good Morning- Well done parents you have made it to the end of week one. 🙂

There have been a lot of activities put up here but please do not feel under pressure to do all of them, they are just ideas.

The children really enjoy sensory activities and these can really help develop numeracy skills – you can discuss quantities, size and capacity. If you would like to make some playdough, I have popped the recipe down below. We enjoy adding a variety of different scents to our playdough.

Before baking, or making playdough,  it is always important to wash our hands. Tt is also important to wash your hands afterwards. We have spoken about handwashing lots, especially in the circumstances surrounding us at the moment. The children really enjoy Sticky kids and  I have popped a link below to “Wash Your Dirty Hands”

Have a lovely weekend everyone, I will check in on Monday 🙂

Thursday 26th March 2020

Bonjour, Hejsan, Hola, Privyet, Hello 🙂

I hope everyone is feeling good and staying safe.

Todays optional activities are going to keep us busy with our literacy, numeracy, health and well-being and creativity skills.

Todays favourite story of ours is going to be ” The Very Hungry Caterpillar”

I have popped a link below to the story, in case you don’t have it at home.

  • Listen to the story, chat to your Mummies and Daddies about all the different foods that the caterpillar ate, what is your favourite food? Can you create a picture of you as a caterpillar with your favourite food, you could draw this, paint it or use junk modelling I am excited to see your creations.
  • Andy’s wild workout today is in the undergrowth, will he see a caterpillar, I wonder what other mini beasts he will see.
  • Cosmic Yoga has the hungry caterpillar story and I have popped the link down below.
  •  In the story the hungry caterpillar eats 1 apple, 2 pears and so forth, see if your children can recognise the numerals. You could make flash cards and see if the children can order them. begin with 0-5, and then progress 0-10. Go on a scavenger hunt around the house and see if you can make your very own number line, perhaps one flower, two sticks…….See what you can find in the garden and make sure you are getting lots of fresh air.
  • In the story it sequences the days of the week, ask the children if they can sing you the days of the week song.

There are some lovely activities on twinkl at the moment for this story. I believe at the moment the subscription is free.

I hope you have lots of fun boys and girls, Mummies and Daddies too!

Stay Safe and take care

Good Afternoon everyone,

My apologies for this post not being made earlier, I thought I had but something must have gone wrong.

Thank you so much for your fantastic pictures of the Three Little Pigs, they really made me smile.

One of our favourite stories to read in the nursery is “We are Going on a Bear Hunt”

Today’s optional tasks are:

  • Read the  story, if you don’t have the story at home I have popped the link below.
  • Stay active like Archie the Alligator by participating in the cosmic yoga bear hunt activity, I have posted the link.
  • Draw your very own picture of a bear to display in your window. I would like to see your creations.

Parents – There is a Facebook group called #frommywindowEastlothian where the community are coming together and all making rainbows to display- Rainbows are a firm favourite within the nursery so I think the children may like to participate in that.
