Below you will find a small selection of the work we have been doing in class.
Another week gone already for P5A . We have had a hectic week – our Titanic week has seen the creation of a huge display, posters of facts and personal writing.
The Learning Pit has definitely had an impact on some children- lots more “can do” rather than “I can’t do it ” They have been putting their total effort into it.
Our numeracy groups are up and running. The children have shown me their ability and now are racing towards place value to a million. My pen is running out of ink marking great progress.
Pictures of our learning will follow soon.
Ask your child about verbs – we have been finding one for every letter of the alphabet. Great fun because I had to act some out!
Next week I am hoping the children will be blogging themselves. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information or you have an idea or issue.
It has been a great first couple of days. The children have come back eager to learn and open to new experiences. We have already covered an amazing amount getting to know each other. We have decided to be a “growth mindset” classroom and never voice negative thoughts about our ability to learn but “try, try and try again ” on our journey to beginning to understand something new. The word FAIL simply means “First Attempt In Learning”. Ask your child about the Learning Pit and hopefully they will be able to explain the super work they have already completed about positive learning. We’ve also been writing letters about our holidays and trying to solve a numeracy based maths activity. Today we also received a Top Secret mission that launches on Monday – make sure your child brings an old shirt for painting and gluing on Monday 22nd – it sounds messy. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any further information or you have an idea or issue that you would like to discuss. Mrs Shona Walker
