PTA Round Up for 2022/23

We would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a very happy end to the summer term and a fantastic summer holiday! As the first year of the Haddington Primary School PTA being back up and running, we are so appreciative of all your wonderful support and are so proud to have raised £4,180 through the various fundraising efforts throughout the year. You can find a breakdown of the money raised on the attached infographic.

Through these funds, we are thrilled to have offered support for the year group trips, among which we have contributed £350 towards the P7 trip to Dunbar, £60 to the P2 trip to Dynamic Earth and valuable ice cream funds to the Life Skills Group to East Links Farm Park. Now that we have funds in the bank, we look forward to working with the school and parent community on where they would like these funds to be spent in 2023/24.

The main PTA focus for 2022/23 had been Project Playground, with the hope of being able to put the money raised by Nancy Hamilton in 2020 via the Cash for Kids campaign into action. It has been a tricky year navigating various official policies and being shocked by the eye-watering costs of playground equipment and developments and so haven’t made the progress on this that we had hoped. This is something which we will continue to work on in 2023/24. This term however, we have donated various playground toys to both campuses which we hope the children are enjoying and look to have some fun improvements made to the playgrounds over the summer holidays. It would be fantastic to give the playground a bit of a spruce up before the new term commences, so if you or your business can help a hand with some general playground tidying up, or provide any large tyres, logs, tables, seating, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.

As a PTA, we are very conscious of the Cost of the School Day and so all PTA activities which occur during the school day, such as own clothes days are by donation, so parents and carers never should feel like they need to pay for anything additional for their child or children.

To also help with the costs associated with school, we’re thrilled to have a Preloved School Uniform bank up and running. The Preloved Uniform Sale last week was an enormous success, with lots of uniform being given a new home – reducing the environmental impact of buying new clothes, whilst also saving money. We will be continuing to hold sales throughout June and will be holding regular uniform sales throughout the next academic year so donations will always be welcome at the school offices.

The PTA team have been working hard this year to come up with fresh, exciting and new ideas and we hoped you and the children enjoyed them. We are always up for new suggestions and feedback, so feel free to email us at haddingtonpspta@gmail.com if you have any ideas or offers of help!

Lots of thanks,

The PTA Committee
