Open Morning – Thursday 9th February 2023 – RESCHEDULED

I hope all parents and carers within our community are keeping well.

I regret to inform you that it will be necessary to reschedule tomorrow’s Open Morning. I can assure you that this decision was not taken before serious consideration was undertaken.

I offer my sincere apology for the short notice, and for any inconvenience presented. I acknowledge that some parents/carers may have made alternative work or childcare arrangements.

The reason for this reschedule is owing to a significant level of staff absence presently. A significant number of class teachers are absent, therefore a good number of parents/carers would not observe their children with their class teacher. Additionally, I consider that expecting supply teachers to be observed is a big challenge.

I thank you for your understanding and cooperation.  I am pleased to inform you that this rescheduled Open Morning will now proceed on the morning of Thursday 16th March 2023.

Best wishes,  Willie

Haddington Primary School – Tuesday 20th December 2022

End of Term/Christmas Holiday

I take this opportunity to thank everyone in our school community for their continued help, support and efforts.

It has been a very special time where parents, carers and families have been able to attend events in school for the first time in three years.

Our Nursery children entertained adults at their Christmas singalong.

Our Infant Campus children provided the Christmas spirit with the traditional P.1 Nativity and P.2, and P.3 Christmas song and poetry presentations.

Traditionally, the Upper Campus children have provided a Christmas Fair. We changed the format this year where year groups presented different Christmas experiences to their parents/carers. P.7 presented a Mexican Christmas including Mexican snacks and class made guacamole. P.6 children danced a ceilidh with the adults. P.5 led Christmas art activities and P.4 served teas, coffees and cakes.

The combined attendance by adults at these events was quite overwhelming. I cannot thank you enough for supporting the school and, most importantly, the children.

Some significant dates for your forward planning next term:

January 2023

·       Week beginning Monday 23rd January 2023 – rescheduled ‘World of Work’ week.

February 2023

·       Thursday 9th February 2023 – Open Morning.

March 2023

·       Wednesday 1st March 2023 at 6.30 p.m. – Parent/Carer Internet Safety Meeting.

·       Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th March 2023 – 4.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m. – Parent/Carer Consultations.

I wish everyone in our school community a very Happy Christmas. I hope that everyone enjoys a restful and happy time over the festive period, and please accept my best wishes for a happy and healthy 2023.

I look forward to welcoming our school community back for the New Year on Wednesday 4th January 2023.

Best wishes, Willie

Amazing Artwork Project

The P4 and 5 pupils were involved in a project called “Turn off the plastic tap Haddington Primary School” they were inspired by the work of artist Benjamin Von Wong, a Canadian artist who tries to make people aware of environmental issues through his artwork. They created and designed a structure to encourage our pupils and staff to reduce plastic.
