w/e 2nd March 2018
We started food education by looking at the different food groups and how these feature in the Eatwell guide. The guide shows us the proportions in which these foods are needed to have a well balanced and healthy diet.
In pairs, we used this knowledge to create a healthy, balanced lunch for pupils of our age.
We have been looking at where foods come from and the seasonality of different foods. We learned which foods are grown locally in which season and which need to be imported from other countries.
6C rose to the challenge of using this knowledge to create some seasonal menus. Below are some examples:
As we are currently in Winter, we made a yummy seasonal Apple and Pear Crumble. We worked in pairs and learned the skills needed to prepare foods safely and hygienically. We followed the recipe and were very pleased with our results! We hope you enjoyed tasting it at home too 🙂
We will be writing up the recipe and sending it home soon so that you can try it again together. Why not try using different fruits??
Continuing to work on our multiplication and division this term. We are using lots of manipulation and games in class and finding that numeracy can be fun!!
⭐ Well done to all in 6C for a fabulous assembly! You did very well considering we didn’t have long to prepare! ⭐
Thank you to all the parents who made it along this morning- we hope you enjoyed hearing about what we’ve been doing in class this term.
Hoping that you are all enjoying the snow days ⛄ Looking forward to hearing all about what you have spent the time doing.
