As part of our Royal Navy topic we have investigated floating and sinking and made model boats:
On Monday we did relaxing yoga to help us concentrate and at lunch we went to the festival café.
We voted for our new topic. It was between the Royal Navy and Life Boats and the Royal Navy won.
On Thursday we had P3s visit us. We showed them around the school and read their books to them.

P6D had a fantastic morning at Knox Academy last week for the P6 and P7 Sports Day. Thank you very much to Mrs Arnold and the pupils from S3 who ran an amazing event which allowed us to take part, compete and support each other!

This week was very exciting as we added a new person to the 6D crew! Mr Conroy was a pleasure to have in our class and we speak for all of 6D when we say we are very happy to have him here!
In PE with Mrs Arnold we did the high jump and some people got up to 1m 10cm!
We hope that people got very high scores in the maths post test…
In our topic lessons we finished our food diaries and everyone thought it was fun to find out how many different foods people ate.

We watched and discussed Keeping Myself Safe – The Skatepark. We enjoyed watched and taking notes on Bill Nye Science Guy – Nutrition as part of our food topic. This was our first week in our new Friday Clubs and everyone had a great time. In music with Mrs Roberts we played different instruments. In PE we are preparing for our orienteering festival in May. In ICT we learned how to use the home row to touch type.
Emma and Kirstin
We have had a great first week back. Everyone is really happy about their new Friday Club and can’t wait for them to start next week. This Friday we learned a little bit about keeping ourselves safe.
In numeracy we are in new groups and covering multiplication and division. This week we also loved our music lesson with Mrs Roberts and started a new song about shiny leather.

The most challenging this week was sitting and waiting for the mock court finals to begin – it was 45 minutes late!
This week we learnt the 7 continents and 5 oceans of planet Earth.
It was cool having our second rugby taster session and our final Friday club of this block.
We also enjoyed putting colour on our pictures in art and our movement sequence in PE.

This week we have enjoyed:
- our first rugby taster session with Tom,
- starting our topic called The Great Outdoors,
- our second last Friday Club and
- Eleanor and Emma loved sportshall athletics at Meadowbank.

On Friday 12th February P6D presented a FANTASTIC assembly all about Philosophy for Children to pupils, staff and parents. It was a real team effort with everyone having an important role to play. Well done to all the boys and girls who put a magnificent effort into learning their lines and our songs and dressing up in role!
This week we have had an exciting topic about puberty and changes to male and female bodies.
In numeracy we are learning decimals and different ways to use them. This week we were learning how to round to 1 decimal place.
We have also been writing metaphors, similes and learning other ways to improve our writing.

This week P6D were learning about philosophical questions – that means that there is no right or wrong answer.
Another topic we are doing is puberty and this week we learnt about emotions and positive and negative feelings.
In maths we are learning about angles in class and decimals in group numeracy. In PE with Mrs Arnold we are dong gymnastics. This week we were doing rolls and sequences using rolls.

We’ve had a wonderful festive afternoon making our sock snowmen for the Christmas Fair on Friday. It was lovely to see so many girls and boys helping each other out – a very supportive class 🙂
This week we have enjoyed learning our Christmas Carols, our InCas tests and learning the months of the year in French.
We are looking forward to performing our Christmas Carols, making our sock snowmen, watching the panto, learning more about Hinduism and the Christmas Fayre next week.
Isla and Loren
We were delighted that the defenders from P6D finished 5th overall in the Lothians Mock Court competition!!!
This week we learned how to do the volleyball dig in PE.
We enjoyed learning about money in our new numeracy groups.
We began learning our songs for the Christmas Event…
We also completed a newspaper article about a significant event in our lifes.
We have enjoyed ICT, Friday Clubs and the woodland workout. We need to work on being quiet and listening – we need to make sure that one person talks at a time. Most of us like doing the track instead of the pitch for our daily mile.

This week we took part in the trials for our Mock Court Project. We went to Edinburgh Sheriff Court and conducted our trials. Here are some of our highlights of our experience in a real court:

Sophie – getting cross-examined and seeing the other schools. Also seeing a real Sheriff doing his job.

Here are the lawyers and witnesses from P6D preparing their cases for our mock court cases next week!
On Tuesday 10th Nov. the pursuers from P6D will be appearing against Forthview primary school at 1630 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
On Thursday 12th Nov. the defenders from P6D will be appearing against St George’s School for Girls at 1630 at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
All the children have been working very hard on the case taking on the role of lawyers, witnesses, journalists, researchers, gown-makers and artists and we wish them all the best next week.
We should clean the floor after we have our story. Perhaps we could play a game at the end of the day: you get 5 HPs if you pick up the litter that the teacher was thinking of!
We enjoyed acting out the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Brodie enjoyed the daily mile.

This week we learnt how to have a small conversation in French. We want to know more about French.
It is cool how we made up games in PE!
We did more work on times-tables.
It is cool how we went on the trip to the gallery in Edinburgh about the Mock Court.

This week we want people to follow the Golden Rules. In language we were doing antonyms. We enjoyed doing the register in French. Next time could everyone bring in their homework? Also we need to pick up litter off the floor and we need to improve less talking.
This week was amazing. We got a visit from the people that will helping us with the mock court project. In topic we were learning about reflections. We had to play a fun game called shiny or dull and we had to find out what was shiny and dull. In handwriting we are getting really good at cursive but hope to get better. In French we did the register it was fun. In music we had to listen to a piece of music and say how we felt. On Friday we wrote the class blog.
