School meals must now be ordered and paid for using the online system, ipay
The menu is available Monday–Thursday with a packed lunch option available on Friday.
The health and wellbeing of children is at the heart of everything we do. The menu meets all of the Scottish Government’s nutritional standards. We have again been awarded the Soil Association’s Bronze level Catering Mark. This recognises that the majority of dishes on our menus are freshly-prepared and that the ingredients do not contain undesirable additives, hydrogenated fats or genetically modified (GM) products. Also that we use free range eggs and seasonal vegetables (locally produced when available), farm assured meat and poultry and fish from sustainable sources.
East Lothian Council aims to make school meals as accessible as possible.
We see the ongoing positive changes as a means of encouraging more children to take school meals. Research shows that if children eat a nutritious midday meal at school,
-their concentration and behaviour improves
-they gain important social skills
-they are more likely to eat their recommended ‘5 a-day’ fruit and vegetables
We see communication with pupils, Head Teachers and parents/guardians as essential to the success of any improvements we make to school catering. We communicate through school newsletters, school websites and East Lothian Council’s website.
We hope your children enjoy the new season menu and please contact us if you require any more information.
